Wusutuzhao Lamasery is located at the southern foothill of DaQingshan Mountain, 13 km to the north-east of Hohhot downtown, where the village Wusutu lies and the temple got its name. The name Wusutu is a Mongolian word meaning “a place that has water”. WusutuzhaoTemple is not one temple actually; instead, it refers to the originally-built seven temples. Nowadays five of them are relatively well-conserved, say, Qingyuansi Temple, Changshousi Temple, Faxisi Temple, Guangshousi Temple and Luohansi Temple, which are all located in the village of Wusutu and not far away from each other. They were built during the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty of ancient China by Mongolian craftsmen. The magnificent buildings are featured by the Mongolian, Tibetan and Han architectural style.
