The Suiyuan General’s House,built in the year 1735,during the reign of Emperor YongZheng in the Qing Dynasty in the north-east part of Guihua City (in current Jiucheng District, Hohhot) to station Manchu, Mongolian and Han troops was once the highest authority in the north-west military. The general stationed there, also called “Jianwei General”, had real power governing the Mongolian area and keeping the peace in the Qing Dynasty. Suiyuan General’s House, together with Suiyuan city wall was listed among the key cultural sites under national protection.
From the second year of Emperor Qianlong to the last year of Emperor Xuantong, 78 people was granted the title of Suiyuan General by the Qing authority were successively stationed managing the local affairs.
