Snuff bottles are Huhuer in Mongolian language. They are lovely round or polyhedrals mall trinkets made of birch bark, bone, fine porcelain, jade, lapis, corals, or crystal, and the bottle tops are sometimes made of corals inlaid with gold, silver, and copper. The decorations are gorgeous paintings or carvings inside and outside; the patterns come form the Mongolian people’s daily lives. Traditionally the Mongolian people posses their own snuff bottles and pass or exchange their bottles when meeting with their friends, which serve as a symbol of hospitality, means of communication, token of friendship and bond of solidarity.
