June 8 was the first competition day of the 13th WUTC, when 22 athletes from 11 nations such as Australia, People’s Republic of China, Germany, Indonesia, Poland, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Philippines, Korea, United States of America and Egypt enter into the semi-final and final of Poomsae Individual competition.
Delegations of Indonesia, Germany, United States of America, Philippines, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and People’s Republic of China rose to the Men’s final, and delegations of Philippines, United States of America, Australia, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea, and People’s Republic of China rose to the Women’s final.
In the women’s individual final, the athletes competed fiercely against each other. Finally, Xia Yu from People’s Republic of China took the first gold medal in this championship, and Salisa Amnuaychai from Thailand took the silver medal, and two athletes from Korea and Philippines tied at the third place. In the men’s final, Yun Handong from Korea won the gold medal, Zhu Yuxiang from China won the silver medal, and two athletes from Indonesia and Thailand tied for the bronze medal.
An athlete from Thailand said to the journalist, this is the first time for her to come to Inner Mongolia; she enjoyed the delicious food and hospitable people here. When it came to her performance in the competition, she was nerves and not satisfied with herself.Thana Van Huynh, an athlete from United States of America said that she had Taekwondo training for nine years. However, she could have better performance in the just-finished event. She would value each competition and try her hard in future.
